I'm thrilled to be back at LA Opera, my glamorous home away from home! Embarking on a new opera (for me) with Mrs. Domingo and her incredible team is such a treat. Can't wait to be immersed in the beauty of Offenbach's final masterpiece.
I'm excited to work with Vittorio Grigolo again and the incredible Diana Damrau for the first time. How lucky am I?!?!
THE TALES OF HOFFMANN OPENS IN ONE MONTH!
Two extraordinary talents join forces this spring in LA Opera's ravishing production of The Tales of Hoffmann, conducted by Plácido Domingo. The sensational Diana Damrau makes her LA Opera debut in a tour-de-force performance as all four heroines, while tenor Vittorio Grigolo returns as poet E.T.A. Hoffmann, whose recollections of the women he has loved and lost set the plot in motion. Marta Domingo's staging captures the half-remembered, half-fantasy dreamworld of Offenbach's final masterpiece.
Currently the toast of the opera world, Damrau and Grigolo "disappeared into their characters, emboldening each other to sing with white-hot sensuality and impassioned lyricism." - The New York Times
